The regional MATHCOUNTS competition marked its 31st anniversary earlier this month. More than 150 students from 18 schools gathered to test their math skills at the event sponsored by Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative and the Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s public school systems.
Plenty to Sing About for COSMIC Symphony
COSMIC Symphony’s next concert, “Song & Dance,” will feature the vocal talents of its 2024 Young Artist Competition winner Ellyanna Tyson, and a classical program. Dates February 22 and 23, 2025.

SMECO Gives Raptors a Helping Hand
SMECO’s concern for its community includes the birds of prey that are vital to the well-being of Southern Maryland’s environment. Owls, ospreys, and other raptors ensure a healthy ecosystem by controlling the numbers of prey animals.
