CSM Events Highlight Black History Month
The College of Southern Maryland is planning events for Black History Month. The college’s Institutional Equity and Diversity Office will host a documentary screening and discussion of “13th” and a visit by Jimmy Bland, a baseball hall of famer and veteran, who will share his experiences in the Negro League and the US Army.
Author Archer Kicks Off CSM Connections
Author Michael Archer will kick off the College of Southern Maryland’s Spring Connections Series on Feb. 17 at the Leonardtown Campus. He will read from his works and speak about his experiences at 7:30 pm.
Learn About Dual Enrollment at CSM
Parents of high school students are invited to attend the College of Southern Maryland’s Dual Enrollment Parent Nights coming up the next few weeks. Each of the college’s three campuses will offer a Parent Night.
Meet New SBDC Business Consultant
A Small Business Development Center open house will be held from 10 am to 4 pm Thursday, Feb. 16, in Leonardtown. Wynne Briscoe, the newest SBDC business consultant for St. Mary’s County, will be introduced.
Winter Driving Tips Offered
The College of Southern Maryland offers a one-day class, Drive2Survive, to help drivers of any age and level learn how to drive in adverse weather and how to better avoid a collision in any circumstance.
CSM Hosts VEX IQ Challenge
Elementary and middle school students will be competing Feb. 11, 2017, at Great Mills High School in the Southern Maryland VEX IQ Challenge. The competition is sponsored by College of Southern Maryland and supported by local businesses and The Patuxent Partnership.
‘Selvage’ Exhibit Features Work of Jim Arendt
Artist Jim Arendt sees denim in a particular way, and he has used that inspiration to create an exhibition that will be featured at the College of Southern Maryland La Plata Campus through March 9, called “Selvage.”

College of Southern Maryland dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester has been released.
VEX Robotics Competition Set at CSM
College of Southern Maryland will host the Robotics Senior Division VEX competition Feb. 4, 2017, with support from The Patuxent Partnership. The Senior Division uses the VEX Robotics Design System for its competition platform.
