Arson is suspected as the cause of a July 12 fire that damaged the USS Bonhomme Richard. A US Navy sailor was being questioned. The fire on the amphibious assault ship, docked in San Diego, burned for more than four days.

Wind Turbines OK’d Offshore in Ocean City
Skipjack Offshore Energy received approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission for the company’s plan to erect wind turbines off the coast of Ocean City. The turbines will be more than 800 feet tall, more than 200 feet taller than the original plan. The taller turbines will mean that fewer would be installed.
Heron Systems the Big Dog in Aerial Dogfight Competition
An AI system developed by Heron Systems in St. Mary’s County beat one of the US Air Force’s top F-16 fighter pilots in DARPA’s simulated aerial dogfight competition. “Team Heron took out the real human Air Force F-16 Pilot 5-0 without taking any damage at all! Huge accomplishment for the team! What a day!”
