Waterline Project Topic of MetCom Meeting

The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is gearing up for the proposed St. Clements Shores Water System Replacement Phase 1 Project No. 2101WR by scheduling a public meeting to notify and inform the community at 6:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016. The meeting will be in MetCom’s main conference room at 23121 Camden Way in California, MD, and presenters will discuss replacement of the waterline system.

Hermine Expected to Bring High Winds, Heavy Rain

A tropical storm warning was issued Friday, Sept. 2, for Southern Maryland indicating that tropical storm force conditions are likely. Therefore, the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is encouraging its customers to prepare for associated high winds, heavy rains and localized flooding.

Two St. Mary’s County neighborhoods have been placed under Level I water restrictions by the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission and must limit their water use.

Grant Will Help Upgrade MetCom Facility

A $945,000 grant has been awarded to the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission to upgrade the methane co-generation system at the Marlay-Taylor Treatment Facility. The grant is from the Maryland Department of the Environment and will be used for engineering design, construction and start-up services related to the facility’s upgrade.

Members of LEAD Maryland’s Class IX, 2015-2016 went to the Marlay Taylor Water Reclamation Facility on Wednesday, June 8, to tour the facilities. During the tour, discussion centered on the Enhanced Nutrient Removal construction upgrades that are underway at the Lexington Park facility.
