Canceled: JSHS Regional Symposium Returns to SMCM
The Patuxent Partnership again brings the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Maryland Regional Competition to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, March 28, 2020. Regional participants will present their original research and experimentation in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics at the symposium. Regional winners progress to the National Symposium in Norfolk, VA, in April.
Perfect Pilot Training at St. Mary’s Airport
There are few more perfect spaces to learn to fly than from St. Mary’s County Regional Airport, according to Piedmont Flight Center student Megan Deaton, let alone the views of the Chesapeake Bay.
Whitetail Solar Project Application Withdrawn
The St. Mary’s County Board of Appeals public hearing scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2020, in Leonardtown has been canceled. The Whitetail VI Solar Projects application has been withdrawn.
Rusty Pilot Update Draws 50 Pilots
If all of aviation got together to compose a shared recruitment poster it might be a Rusty Pilot. St. Mary’s Regional Airport offers some ways to get current and fly again. Expect more programming to get your license, maintain your credentials, and refresh them at the airport. The next training session is slated for March 14.
Pax JobZone Rescheduled: May 19
JobZone’s job fair at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department will be open 3-7 pm. Registration is open now. There is still time for companies to reserve exhibitor space.
Nominations Open for TPP Board
The Patuxent Partnership Board of Directors will appoint new directors at the Annual Meeting on Oct. 30. Individual, academic, and corporate members interested in serving on the board of directors are encouraged to submit their nomination for consideration by the Board Development Committee.
Job Growth Remains Slow, Wages Drop
Unemployment hit a 50-year low in September 2019, even though steady employment growth remains low and wages are dropping. Employment in health care and in professional and business services continued to trend up, but overall non-farm payrolls rose by just 136,000.
