Christmas in April Gets Boost From SMECO
Christmas in April organizations in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties got a boost recent from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative and CoBank. SMECO received a $4,500 contribution from CoBank to pass on to the non-profit organization.

Three companies have been awarded by Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative because of their outstanding achievements in building hundreds of ENERGY STAR certified new homes in Southern Maryland in the last year.
SMECO Donates LEDs to Food Bank
As part of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative’s participation in EmPOWER Maryland, 32,688 LEDs were donated to help families who need assistance save money by reducing energy use.
Solar Facility Coming to La Plata
A new solar facility is about to be built in La Plata, through an agreement between Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative and Origis Energy USA.
Capital Credit Refunds Coming to SMECO Bills
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has been able to save money on its expenses through the year, so it will issue capital credit refunds to customer-members totaling nearly $3.8 million.
