CSM Twilight Series Ends 10th Season
The 10th season of the College of Southern Maryland’s Twilight Performance Series has come to an end. For another year audiences were captivated by Chautauqua’s historical portrayals of 20th-century composer Duke Ellington, poet Gwendolyn Brooks, and novelist Ernest Hemingway, as well as musical and theatrical performances.
CSM Night at Blue Crabs Stadium
College of Southern Maryland alumni and friends are invited to a special night watching the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs starting at 6:30 pm Aug. 26, 2016, at Regency Furniture Stadium’s picnic area at 11765 St. Linus Drive in Waldorf.
Slagle Earns Chamber Scholarship for CSM
William T. “Tyler” Slagle, 17, of Faulkner is the recipient of the 2016-17 Charles County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship established with the College of Southern Maryland Foundation. Slagle will attend CSM to pursue studies in business administration.
Hoyer Speaks at Roundtable on Veterans
The College of Southern Maryland has found a unique way to make students who are former military feel welcome on the La Plata campus, and Congressman Steny H. Hoyer recently visited this Veterans Lounge to participate in a roundtable discussion on veterans issues.
Walls Earns Regents Scholarship to UMBC
James Walls, a graduate of College of Southern Maryland, has been named a Gross Regents Scholar, earning a scholarship to attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Walls is a 21-year-old Hughesville resident.
Professor Earns Faculty Excellence Award
Tara McManaway is the recipient of this year’s Annual Faculty Excellence Award Honoring Permanent Faculty at the College of Southern Maryland. Ms. McManaway is a professor and coordinator of the massage therapy program at the college.
Students Honored for Creativity, Design
College of Southern Maryland students were recognized for their creativity, innovation, design, and artistic viewpoints at the 2016 annual Juried student exhibition and awards reception.
Register for Veterinary Assistant Class
Registration is now open for the College of Southern Maryland’s veterinary assistant program, and this 10-month training will get students on the path to a career in this fast-growing field. The program begins in August and is completed with five classes, taking less than a year.
CSM Awards Student Leaders at Banquet
Student leaders at the College of Southern Maryland who go beyond the classroom by becoming involved in the college community were recognized for their impact at the annual Student Government Association banquet May 12 at Middleton Hall in Waldorf.
Auditions Set for CSM Fall Theater Season
Auditions for the fall theater season at the College of Southern Maryland will be held from 6 to 8 pm Aug. 8 and 9, 2016, in the Fine Arts Center Theatre on the La Plata Campus. CSM is planning four in-house productions for the fall. Auditions are open to the public.
