UCAC Committee to Join Sotterley Event


Historic Sotterley will present People and Perspectives on February 9, 2022, with a panel featuring the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions Education Committee.

Sotterley Project Earns Recognition

Historic Sotterley has received the 2021 Underground Railroad Free Press Prize for Leadership for its Common Ground Initiative and Descendants Project that has brought together Black and White descendants of people who lived at Sotterley Plantation in the era of slavery.

Historic Sotterley continues its virtual programming with author William G. Thomas III as he speaks about his book, “A Question of Freedom: The Families Who Challenged Slavery from the Nation’s Founding to the Civil War.” The event will be held at 7 pm March 3, 2021.
