Golf Classic Raises Money for Scholarships
For 25 years, the College of Southern Maryland Foundation has been raising money with the annual Golf Classic. The event’s Grand Tournament Sponsor, Marrick Homes, is celebrating along with the foundation as they plan this year’s event, set for Thursday, Aug. 18, at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club in Issue.
CSM Trustees Appoint Leadership
Dorothea Holt Smith had been re-appointed as chair of the College of Southern Maryland Board of Trustees and Theodore L. Harwood has been appointed vice chair, effective July 1, 2016.
CSM Presents 3 Children’s Theatre Performances
CSM’s Children’s Theatre will perform “Sprit of Hispania: Hispanic Tales,” a play by Jules Tasca that explores Latin American mythology, as part of CSM’s 2016 Twilight Performance Series. Performances take place Aug. 2 in Leonardtown, Aug. 3 in La Plata, and Aug. 4 in Prince Frederick.
CSM Signs 10 Hawks to Basketball Team
CSM is one of the only multi-campus community colleges in Maryland where athletes can take classes online or on any campus and play in their choice of 12 NJCAA athletic programs.

Bricks Honor Friends, Neighbors
The College of Southern Maryland has found a way to create a timeless tribute to the people and places that make the region unique. The walkways at all three campuses now have brick areas in which friends and neighbors are able to purchase bricks with names engraved on them, and a recent ceremony at the Leonardtown campus marked yet another brick space for these names.
Student Athletes Honored at CSM Banquet
Student athletes at the College of Southern Maryland were recognized for sportsmanship, academic achievement, and athletic excellence during the 2015-16 season at the annual athletic awards banquet held in May.
Groovespan, Sea Chanters to Perform in Prince Frederick
CSM’s Prince Frederick campus’ Twilight Series will feature Jennifer Cooper and Groovespan on July 21 and US Navy Band Sea Chanters on July 28. All performances will begin at 6:45 pm.
