Board Shares Key Election Information
The St. Mary’s County Board of Elections reminds residents of upcoming dates and resources related to the 2026 Primary Election and is notifying the public of an updated date for the pre-Election Day mail-in ballot canvass. The ballot canvass, previously announced for June 1, has been rescheduled to 9am Friday, June 5.
June Open Houses @ Drayden Schoolhouse
The St. Mary’s County Museum Division, in partnership with the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions, will offer open houses at the Drayden African American Schoolhouse in Drayden on the first and third Saturday of the month from 11am to 2pm. Two additional dates have been added in June.
Space Camp Applications Due June 15
St. Mary’s College of Maryland Space Camp will be held for high school students from St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert counties. The camp, sponsored by The Patuxent Partnership and Rural Maryland, will run from 8:45am to 3:15pm June 22-26, 2026. The deadline to apply is June 15.
Sheriff: Vandalism Reports May Be Made Online
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has added vandalism reporting to its Digital Online Reporting System.
Additional Testing of Calvert Cliffs Sirens Scheduled June 3-5
Additional testing of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant emergency warning sirens is scheduled to take place June 3 through 5, 2026, at various intervals throughout the day.

Pax River Sets Noise Advisory Through July 10
Communities surrounding NAS Patuxent River are advised that noise-generating testing events are scheduled to take place through July 10, 2026, from 8am to 5pm.
Sanders to Moderate TPP Symposium
Retired RADM Scott Sanders will moderate The Patuxent Partnership symposium, Evolving Warfare: Rise of the Drones, on June 18. The symposium will focus on emerging drone and future autonomous technologies and how they will affect US Navy operations. Registration is now open.
Reminder: June 2 Deadline to Register to Vote
The close of registration and party affiliation deadline for the Maryland primary is Tuesday, June 2, 2026, by 5pm in the St. Mary’s County election office or by 11:59pm online.
Calvert Cliffs Testing Sirens on June 1, With More Testing Later in the Week
There will be a full-cycle test of the alert and notification sirens throughout St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Dorchester counties on Monday, June 1, 2026, at noon.
