St. Mary’s Govt. Operations for Juneteenth

All St. Mary’s County government administrative offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Offices will resume normal operating schedules on Monday, June 22.

The June 19 closure also includes:

  • St. Mary’s County Libraries (Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown, and Lexington Park)
  • Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler, and Northern), and there will be no home-delivered meals
  • St. Mary’s Transit System
  • Department of Recreation & Parks indoor programs and facilities (exceptions below)
  • Animal Adoption & Resource Center
  • St. Mary’s County Soil Conservation District

The following county operations will be open June 19:

  • Convenience Centers (9:30am – 5pm)
  • St. Andrew’s Landfill (8am – 4:30pm)
  • Wellness & Aquatics Center (6am – noon)
  • St. Clement’s Island Museum*, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, and the Old Jail Museum
  • Wicomico Shores Golf Course and Riverview Restaurant

*Note: the St. Clement’s Island Museum is operating on a limited basis due to construction. The St. Mary’s Museum Division, in partnership with the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions, will offer free open houses at the Drayden African American Schoolhouse and the US Colored Troops Interpretive Center at Lexington Manor Passive Park for Juneteenth from 11am to 2 pm June 19, 20, and 21.

Community members are also encouraged to attend the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions’ annual Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from noon to 6pm at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. This free, family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, cultural performances, educational exhibits, food, vendors, and activities for all ages.

Featured performances include Ms. Story’s Living History, the Ni Dembaya African Drum and Dance Ensemble, and the Get2Gether Band. The 2026 theme, “Building on the Promise of Freedom for All,” recognizes both the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary and the continued importance of reflecting on and celebrating freedom, unity, and the African American experience. Health Department Operations for the Juneteenth Holiday

The St. Mary’s County Health Department will be closed June 19. This includes the main office in Leonardtown and all satellite offices. Normal operations will resume Monday, June 22.
