USPS Operation Santa Now Accepting Letters
The US Postal Service has kicked off the 2025 season of USPS Operation Santa, inviting children and families across the country to begin writing and sending letters to Santa Claus. The program connects letter writers with individuals and organizations who help fulfill their holiday wishes.

Hoyer Marks 25th Anniversary of Judy Centers
Rep. Steny H. Hoyer joined educators and elected officials in Maryland to celebrate 25 years of Judy Centers in the state. The event was held November 6 at Rosa L. Parks Elementary School in Hyattsville to honor the visionary leadership and legacy of Judith P. Hoyer, Mr. Hoyer’s late wife and early childhood advocate.
Memory Kits Available to Support Cognitive Wellness
Memory Kits, a new resource designed to support cognitive health among older adults and individuals experiencing cognitive decline, are now available at St. Mary’s County libraries and senior centers.
Navy Consolidating Autonomous Acquisitions
A new office consolidating the development and purchasing of autonomous systems into a single entity will be the Navy’s first effort under the new era of Pentagon acquisition reform. It’s unclear whether a military or civilian director will be named, or when, to run the new Portfolio Acquisition Executive Robotic Autonomous System.
SMECO Members Helping Members
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative reminds its members that they can help their neighbors who are struggling to pay their electric bills when they contribute to Members Helping Members. Members can sign up to add $1, $5, or $10 to their electric bills each month.
