Riverdale Heights Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $331,050 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response, or SAFER, grant. The VFD’s SAFER grant will be used for the recruitment of volunteer firefighters, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer said.

The National Volunteer Fire Council just got a boost from the federal government. Congressman Steny H. Hoyer has announced that a $1,069,174 grant is being awarded to the NVFC through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
5th District Winning Artist Honored
Tara Auman, a St. Mary’s County resident, is the winner of the 35th annual 5th District Congressional Art Competition. Ms. Auman was honored as a special reception hosted by Congressman Steny H. Hoyer in July.
