Lower Electric Rates Coming for SMECO Customers
Customer-members of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative will be seeing lower electric rates. SMECO received approval by the Maryland Public Service Commission on Dec. 28, 2017, to reduce the Distribution Service charges for its customers.
SMECO 75 Funds Donated to Local Groups
Employees of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative have a lot to be proud of. Through two fund-raising efforts like the SMECO 75 Bike Ride and a golf tournament, SMECO staffers have recently donated $47,642 to non-profit organizations that help the environment in Southern Maryland.
High School Seniors Can Apply for Scholarship
Four high school seniors will be chosen in the spring for college scholarships from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative. The $1,500 scholarships are for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Phone Scam Targeting SMECO Customers
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative was recently contacted by about 20 customer-members who received phone calls from scammers targeting businesses in the area.
Daniels Chosen for No Barriers Experience
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative nominated US Marine Corps combat veteran Ryan Daniels of Lexington Park to participate in a five-day trip to Colorado in August. Mr. Daniels was one of 50 soldiers who participated in the expedition in August, made possible through the partnership of CoBank and No Barriers USA.
