Marines Halt All AAV Training in Wake of Fatal Accident

The Marine Corps will suspend all waterborne amphibious assault vehicle training until the cause of Thursday’s AAV accident is known. On July 30, 15 Marines and one sailor were participating in a training exercise off the coast of Southern California when the vehicle they were riding in, began to take on water and sank. One confirmed dead, eight others missing.

SpaceX Delivers Astronauts to Space Station

Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken arrived at the International Space Station following the historic launch on Saturday. The pair of astronauts docked to the space station’s Harmony module at 10:16 a.m. Sunday as the microgravity laboratory flew 262 miles above the border northern China and Mongolia.

New NavSec Braithwaite Confirmed

The Senate confirmed Kenneth Braithwaite as the new Navy secretary, reports Politico. The NavSec post has been vacant since November when Richard Spencer was fired.

Space Force Calls for $2B in New Funding

The Pentagon’s latest legislative proposal for the new Space Force military service calls for $2 billion in new funding over a five-year period, during which about 15,000 space-related personnel will transfer from existing roles.
