Leaders, Learn the Healthcare Options

health care logoFree training is available for community leaders in Southern Maryland who are interested in helping county residents learn about and take advantage of the new health insurance options. The training will be held at the Lexington Park Branch Library at 21677 F.D.R. Blvd, Lexington Park, MD, on Monday, September 16, at 1 pm. To RSVP for the free training, please call Suzanne Schlattman at 410-235-9000.

This training is the result of a collaboration between the St. Mary’s Health Department, St. Mary’s Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance Coalition, St. Mary’s Partnership, Walden Sierra Inc., Calvert Healthcare Solutions and the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition.

According to a recent poll conducted by the Horizon Foundation and the Maryland Health Care for All! Coalition, most Maryland residents aren’t sure how the new health care law will affect them and their families. When asked about the new health insurance options, county residents who were most likely to benefit were the least knowledgeable.

The Health Care for All! Coalition is a broad-based coalition of over 1,200 faith, labor, business and community groups that have been working to guarantee all Marylanders access to quality, affordable health care. To learn more, visit http://www.healthcareforall.com
