Suicide, Addiction Recovery Discussed at Meeting
The Behavioral Health Action Team of the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership, supported by MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, held a meeting Aug. 12, 2016, and the meeting highlighted the importance of the restriction of suicide means, as well as gave the details of the Medication Assisted Recovery Support, or MARS, Survey.

A culture of patient safety and infection reduction is paying off at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. The hospital is one of only seven in Maryland and Virginia to receive VHQC’s 2015 Quality Innovation Award.

MedStar Health opened its newest health care facility July 19 in Brandywine, MD. The community-based health care center is at 13950 Brandywine Road.
Extended Hours, New Name for PromptCare
A small change is coming to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital’s Express Care, but most patients will not notice much difference. Express Care transitioned to MedStar PromptCare on Aug. 8, 2016, so the offices in Charlotte Hall and Waldorf now have a new name.
SMECO, MedStar Awarded for Wellness
Two local businesses have been recognized for their wellness efforts. In June, Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative and MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital were honored by Van Mitchell, secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, for their excellent accomplishments in work-site health promotion.
