Saturday Lab Work Moves to Main Hospital

Access to Care

Patients who need laboratory or blood work on Saturdays will see a slight change to the process at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. The hospital is relocating its weekend outpatient lab work services from the Outpatient Pavilion to the main hospital. This change started July 2, 2016.

MedStar Building New Health Center

The first of the steel construction beams that will support a three-story medical arts building in Lexington Park was put into place May 10. The East Run Health Center on Great Mills Road is the site of a partnership between MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, Greater Baden Medical Services, and Walden Behavioral Health. The center will give residents more options for medical care at a single location.

Risk Behavior Survey Data to Be Shared

In 2014, data was recorded for the 2014 Youth Risk Behavior Survey and on June 22, 2016, the key findings of the survey will be presented during a town hall meeting from 6 to 7:30 pm at the St. Mary’s County Public Schools Central Administration Office at 23160 Moakley St. in Leonardtown.

Housing for Visiting Physicians Under Construction

MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown held a groundbreaking April 25 for new housing for visiting physicians and medical professionals. Hospital officials believe the project will attract new physicians to the area.

Town Halls to Focus on Tobacco Use

The Tobacco Free Living action team (TFL) of the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership, supported by MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, is facilitating a two-part Town Hall Series to discuss the issue of underage tobacco and e-cigarette use. Survey Can Improve Annual Meeting
