SMECO Members Elected at Annual Meeting
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative held its 81st annual meeting Aug. 29, 2019, at Middleton Hall in Waldorf, and after counting close to 8,000 votes, members from all three Southern Maryland counties were elected to the board of directors.

Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative held its Annual Meeting on Aug. 29, 2018, at co-op headquarters in Hughesville. The board of directors election was conducted by mail before the meeting, yielding about 6,000 votes.
SMECO Issues Capital Credit Refunds
Capital Credit Refunds from Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative will begin to be issued in July, at a total of nearly $5.6 million. Eligible active customer-members will get credits on their bills and checks will be sent to eligible former members.

Slater Recognized by National Safety Council
Austin J. Slater, president and CEO of Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, has been recognized by the National Safety Council as a CEO Who “Gets It” for 2017. The NSC finds safety leaders each year and recognizes their actions because they demonstrate a personal commitment of first creating and then sustaining a culture of health and safety in the workplace.
SMECO Files to Adjust Rates
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has filed a request to increase distribution rates, which would become effective in March 2016.
SMECO Holds 77th Annual Meeting
Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative held its 77th annual meeting on Sept. 2 and customer-members voted to elect board members.
