Adult Classes:

Painting

Annmarie Garden will present a Watercolor Class, a two class series taught by Nancy Thompson on March 12 & 13, 10:00 am – 3:30pm. Great for any level (no experience necessary), learn to turn favorite springtime scenes into watercolor works of art. Cost is $135 for non-members; $125 for members. Bring photos for inspiration! Annmarie Garden will present a Watercolor Class, a two class series taught by Nancy Thompson on April 9 & 10, 10:00 am – 3:30pm. Expand your painting techniques, and apply color to paper in bold, fresh ways. Experiment with new methods by pouring and painting on gessoed paper and abstract shapes. Bring your own supplies or pay the optional fee to use the instructor’s. Materials list provided at registration. Cost is $135 for non-members; $125 for members. Jewelry and Stained Glass

Annmarie Garden will present two opportunities create Sea Glass Jewelry on February 24, 2013 or April 7, 2013, 1:00pm – 3:00pm. Create a beautiful pendant and matching earrings with sea glass found on local southern Maryland beaches. Students will learn quick, easy assembly techniques to incorporate sea glass and beachy found objects into fun, creative jewelry. Instructor provides a kit which includes materials to create a beautiful pendant and matching earrings. Find something special on your beach? Bring that too! Annmarie Garden will present Introduction to Stained Glass – March Session on March 3, 2013, 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art as we explore the copper foil technique. Learn to cut, shape and grind glass, foiling and soldering techniques, to make a sun-catcher for your window. Cost is $45 for non-members; $40 for members. Annmarie Garden will present Stained Glass:  3D Spring Butterfly on March 23, 2013, 10:00am – 3:00pm. Learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art as we explore the copper foil technique. Learn to take your newfound stained glass skills to the next level as you craft a 3-dimensional butterfly using the copper foil technique. Ceramics

Annmarie Garden will present Pottery Basics Winter Session, a six-class series, Wednesday evenings starting March 13, 2012 through April 17, 2013 (no class on March 20), 6:30-9:30 pm. Learn a comprehensive skill set for working in clay. The last class ends with a raku firing. Cost is $185 for non-members; $175 for members. Need a little extra practice? Annmarie Garden will present Girls Night Out: Wine and Dish – Whimsical Platters, a two-class series taught by Sarah Houde, on October 8 & October 29, 6:30 pm – 9:30pm both nights. Grab a friend and get ready to get festive as we use soft clay slabs and coils to make traditional or whimsical holiday platters. Cost is $65 for non-members; $60 for members. Annmarie Garden will present Ceramic Tile-Making Workshop, a two day series taught by Parran Collery, on March 23 & 24, 2013, 10:00am – 3:00pm both days. Spend a weekend exploring several techniques and methods for creating relief sculpted tiles in clay. Students will have the opportunity to create several pieces around a theme that is meaningful to them. Design issues, including form, texture, and color will be addressed. Open to all skill levels. Annmarie Garden will present Beginner/Intermediate Wheel with Alternative Firing Techniques, an eight class series taught by Ray Bogle, beginning March 30 – May 4, held on Thursday evenings 6:00pm – 9:00 pm and Saturdays, 10:00am – 4:00pm. Continue honing your skills or learn basic wheel-throwing techniques in this basic and intermediate pottery wheel class. Sessions will consist of learning core wheel skills along with guided development of several wheel thrown pieces. Intermediate students will be challenged to refine existing skills and learn new techniques. Sessions include five 3hr classes, two 6hr sessions, and one 6hr open studio session. Detailed instruction will be provided covering raku firing and pit firings techniques. Students can expect to produce up to 15 wheel thrown pieces. Cost is $240 for non-members; $225 for members. Annmarie Garden will present an inventive 5 class series with 5 artists and 5 styles called, The Five:  A 2D Mixed Media Exploration of Artists & Styles, beginning Monday, April 1, 2013, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm (additional days are April 8, April 15, April 22, and April 30, 5-7pm). Meet 5 of Annmarie Garden’s favorite regional 2D artists, crack open a bottle of wine as you explore their work, and experiment with some of their favorite techniques and subjects. Learn tips, tricks, and innovations from their personal experiences and share your own in these informal, but informational sessions. Each week is led by a different artist in a different 2D medium. Annmarie Garden will present Picture This! Art + Story Time, for ages 4-6 on the first and third Wednesday of each month, beginning March 6 – May15, 2013, 10:30-11:30am. Classes will be held on March 6, March 20, April 3, April 17, May 1, and May 15. These hour-long story times teach basic art elements, art styles, and even a little art history with wonderful children’s books, imaginative games, and inventive art projects. Annmarie Garden will present Family Music for Toddlers, a five class series, for ages 16 months – 3 years on Mondays, beginning April 8, 2013 – May 6, 2013, 10:00 am – 10:30 am. Parents participate with their toddlers as we sing, dance, move, listen, and play simple instruments…learn to play with drums, recorders, cymbals, guiro, guitars, and more.
