All Students Welcome in STEM Programs

STEM

Your child does not have to be enrolled in the STEM Academy to take advantage of STEM programs in St. Mary’s County Public Schools.  There are a variety of programs available to students in St. Mary’s County and the first Maryland STEM Festival and Expo brings a myriad of STEM related activities, programs and courses together in one venue.  Parents and students can explore the various hands-on activities to help foster their child’s STEM interests.

St. Mary’s County Public Schools is hosting the Maryland STEM Festival and Expo and has lined up exhibitors from many local and state agencies, to include NASA Goddard, Pax River NAS, UMD Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test Site, St.Mary’s College of Maryland Physics Department, PaxSpace, Calvert Marine Museum, Patuxent River Naval Air Museum, Raytheon, Mathnasium and many more.

There will also be opportunities for students to do some hands on learning with demonstrations in robotics, rocketry, flight simulation and many other fascinating areas of STEM.  There truly is something for everyone at the Expo! Students of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The 2015 Maryland STEM Festival and Expo is being held on Saturday, November 14, at the James A. Forrest Technology and Career Center in Leonardtown.  The Expo runs from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. There will be Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, chips and beverages available for purchase as well as Bruster’s Ice Cream for dessert.
