Prep for Future at CSM Transfer Fairs

Most students at the College of Southern Maryland intend to move on and pursue bachelor’s degrees, and the college wants to do everything possible to create an easy transition. During Transfer Awareness Week, Sept. 19-23, 2016, students can learn more about the transfer process.

More than 50 guaranteed transfer agreements have been secured for students who want to go to four-year colleges and universities all over the United States. At Transfer Awareness Week, students can meet and discuss their future plans with representatives from a variety of schools, explore possible majors and degree programs, and meet with the faculty of CSM all in one place.

Each campus will have its own transfer fair. At the Prince Frederick Campus, the event will be 12:30 to 2:30 pm Sept. 19 in Building B, Multipurpose Room, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick.

At the Leonardtown Campus, it will be from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, Sept. 20 in the Wellness and Aquatics Center, Building D, 22950 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown.

At the La Plata Campus, it will be 12:30 to 2:30 pm, Sept. 22 in the Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Chaney Enterprises Conference Room, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata.

Institutions scheduled to be represented include American Public University System, Bowie State University, Coastal Carolina University, Coppin State University, Delaware State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Excelsior College, Frostburg State University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Howard University, Longwood University, Loyola University of Maryland, Morgan State University, Mount St. Mary’s University, North Carolina A&T University, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Salisbury University, Salem International University, Shenandoah University, Stevenson University, Towson University, University of Baltimore, University of Mary Washington, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of Phoenix, University of Virginia, West Virginia University and York College.

During Transfer Awareness Week, students can attend a variety of sessions as well:

“Transfer Success Academy: Transfer Essentials” from 3:30 to 5 pm Sept. 19. Focus on general transfer information which includes exploring careers, majors and universities; steps to a seamless transfer; transfer application process; financial aid considerations; and university life and culture. At the La Plata Campus in the Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Room 201; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Room 322; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 107.

“Guide to Financial Aid” from 4:30 to 5:30 pm Sept. 20. At the La Plata Campus in the Career Education (CE) Building, Room 102; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building C, Room 322; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 107.

“HBCU Advantage” will explore the advantages of transferring to a historically black college or university from noon to 1 pm Sept. 21. At the La Plata Campus in the Career Education (CE) Building, Room 102; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building C, Room 322; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 107.

“Get There: Charting Your Career Path” from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Sept. 21. CSM Career Services will show students how to chart a road map to career success. At the La Plata Campus in the Career Education (CE) Building, Room 102; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building C, Room 322; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 107.

“Ready When You Are: Leveraging Your Previous Education and/or Military Experience in Online Education” from 4 to 5 pm Sept. 21. At the La Plata Campus in the Career Education (CE) Building, Room 102; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building C, Room 322; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 107.

“Transfer Shock” from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Sept. 22. At the La Plata Campus in the Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Room 009; at the Leonardtown Campus, Building A, Room 208; and at the Prince Frederick Campus, Flagship Building, Room 108.
