Bill Bessette of Mechanicsville has been named the new executive director of public safety and preparedness at the College of Southern Maryland.
The St. Charles Children’s Learning Center welcomes local “celebrities” who visit the center on the College of Southern Maryland La Plata Campus to read to the preschoolers there.
The College of Southern Maryland Foundation is seeking to make an even greater impact for CSM students as it surpasses its initial goal of $10 million and challenges the community to help raise another $2 million toward its “Make An Impact” campaign.
The College of Southern Maryland recognized its employees for innovation, leadership, and service during CSM’s annual All-College Convocation at the La Plata Campus on Aug. 18.

The College of Southern Maryland, along with Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, College Park, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce, have endowed $8.6 million in three new research professorships.
