Adults Can Get Creative at AMG

Adults

Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in Solomons, MD, has a host of ways adults can get creative. Taking classes at Annmarie allows adults to learn new ways to feed their need to create beautiful works of art. All adult classes require pre-registration. Call 410-326-4640 or visit their website.

Tricia Hall will be back at AMG for “Metalsmithing: Interlocking Silver Rings,” on March 6 from 1 to 4 pm. Using a torch, students will learn to solder fine silver to create a multi wired/balled ring. No experience necessary.

Jill Smithson will teach “Foundation Zentangle,” on place March 12 from 10:30 am to noon. This class will explore the Foundation of Zentangle, the meditative art form often called “yoga for the brain.” Ms. Smithson will teach students to explore the pigments of Zentangle, known as Pattern Tangles. This class invites students to explore, create, and play as they rekindle their creativity, develop greater hand-eye coordination, quiet their minds, and improve their capacity to perceive with an artist’s eye.

A second class will be offered on the same day, March 12, from 1 to 3 pm, also taught Ms. Smithson. “Zentangle Continued: Shading, Tints, & Tangles” gives students the opportunity to explore the aspects of shading and adding tints and colors to their Zentangle art. Participants will learn tangle patterns with unique shading options and discover how just a little shading or adding gradations of color takes their Zentangle patterns to a whole new level. Pre-requisite: Must have taken an Intro or Foundational Zentangle class previously. Students should bring their Foundational or intro kit supplies.

Leza Hepler will teach “Intro to Stained Glass” from 10 am to 1 pm March 12. Students will learn the fundamentals behind stained glass art and explore the copper foil technique. They will learn to cut, shape and grind glass, as well as foiling and soldering techniques to make a small sun-catcher for your window. All materials are included.
