Charlotte Hall Vets Recipients of Cruisin’ Southern Maryland Donation
The Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, for the second year, received proceeds associated with the Cruisin’ Southern Maryland for Veterans ride and car show.
After the “cruise” through the Southern Maryland counties, the nine participating Southern Maryland car clubs put their vehicles on display at the veterans home and volunteers bring residents and their families through the rows of classic and tricked-out cars.
This year 154 cars registered for the event, according to Carole Lewis, director of marketing for Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, and $9,000 was donated to the home. This more than doubles the $4,000 raised by the inaugural event in 2012.
The funds will be used to construct a pavilion, Ms. Lewis said.
More than 40 volunteers helped produce the event and escort the veterans through the show. There are many opportunities for volunteers at CHVH, says Ms. Lewis. Last year they logged over 13,000 hours.
