Capt. Brett Crozier will not be reinstated as captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt nor will he receive any further punishment for his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak on the aircraft carrier.

ReOpen Maryland, a group organized to lobby Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to reopen businesses, educational, and religious institutions immediately, protested in Annapolis on Saturday. Some state lawmakers are also urging the governor to consider a regional approach to relaxing restrictions during the coronavirus threat.

Newly sworn in DefSec James Mattis held what the Defense Department called a “Top 4″ meeting Saturday that included Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Deputy Defense Secretary Robert O. Work; and Air Force Gen. Paul Selva, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
