CSM Hosts Veterans Day Breakfast
The College of Southern Maryland celebrates members of its community – students, faculty and staff members – who have served in the armed forces. In alignment with the country’s celebrations of military veterans on Veterans Day, the college held a Veterans Day breakfast Nov. 9 at the Center for Business and Industry Building at the La Plata Campus.
CSM Veterans Lounge Gets Facelift
College of Southern Maryland has created a space for student veterans to relax, study, and be with their peers on the La Plata campus, and US Rep. Steny H. Hoyer recently visited the campus to check it out. The Veterans Lounge includes computers, work tables, a projector and podium for lectures, and a comfortable seating area to give students a place to connect with fellow military veterans, study, gather, and support each other.
An Advocate for Student Veterans in College
CSM student veteran and advocate Bill Buffington was one of the 125 students chosen from 1,500 applicants to attend this summer’s Student Veterans Association (SVA) Leadership Institute in Bentonville, Arkansas.
