Patuxent Park Water and Sewer Replacement Phase 3

Capital Improvement Project Nos. 8122WR & 8124SR

The third phase to replace the Patuxent Park water-sewer systems is the topic of a public meeting Feb. 19, 6:30 pm at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department.

These projects are MetCom’s third phase of the Patuxent Park water-sewer replacement and rehabilitation efforts that include systems on Saratoga Drive (from Great Mills Road to Franklin Road), Midway Drive (from Saratoga Drive to Bunker Hill Road), Card Road, Wasp Road, Yorktown Road, St. Lo Place, Cabot Place, Suwanee Place, and Kearsage Place, located in the Patuxent Park subdivision.

The infrastructure within the Patuxent Park subdivision was constructed by the U. S. Navy in the mid 1940’s and the water and sewer systems require replacement and/or rehabilitation.

The project will include replacement of approximately 7,500 linear feet of water line, 170 water services, fifteen (15) fire hydrants, appurtenances and associated restoration. Project construction will also include rehabilitation and/or replacement of approximately 7,500 linear feet of sewer line, 170 sewer services, and installation of three (3) new manholes, appurtenances and associated restoration. Project construction is anticipated to start approximately June 2015. The estimated total Phase 3 cost for this Patuxent Park water-sewer system rehabilitation is $4,576,000.

The Public Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, Station 3 – Social Hall, 46900 South Shangri-La Drive, Lexington Park, Maryland.

The proposed contract documents, which include plans and specifications, can be inspected at the time of the meeting or at MetCom’s Engineering Department office located at 23121 Camden Way, California, MD, from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

All interested persons are invited to attend this Public Meeting to ask questions or present their comments and suggestions regarding this project. This notice is in accordance with Section 113-5 of the Code of St. Mary’s County, the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) will hold a Public Meeting to notify and inform the community regarding the proposed Patuxent Park Water Main Replacement Phase 3 Project No. 8122WR and Patuxent Park Sewer Replacement Phase 3 Project No. 8124SR.
