Events Usher in Holiday Season

The Newtowne Players are offering “It’s a Wonderful Life: Radio Play” by Joe Landry weekends until Sunday, Dec 20, 2015. The play is being directed by Beth Sanford.

The community theater group says “this beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.”

Unwrapped toys will be collected for Toys for Tots during the shows Dec. 11. 12 and 13, 2015.

Instead of Thursday evening performances, the group will have two performances on Saturdays: a matinee at 3:30 pm and an evening performance at 8 pm.

Showtimes will be 8 pm Dec. 11, 3:30 and 8 pm Dec. 12, 3:30 pm Dec. 13, 8 pm Dec. 18, 3:30 and 8 pm Dec. 19 and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20.

The cast includes Lewis Beckley- Harry “Jazzbo” Heywood, Greg Rumpf, Jake Laurents, Rachael Culver, Sally Applewhite, Michelle Doubet, Lana Sherwood, Faith Hastings, Trixie Devine, Chad Leo, Willy Kurtz, Rebecca Smith, Judy Lester, Bernice Williams, Hazel Jenkins, Wade Thompson, Freddie Filmore and Kathryn Teague.

The theater is 21744 South Coral Drive in Lexington Park.
