CSM Announces December Events
The College of Southern Maryland Latin Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Johnson, will perform at 8 p.m. December 10 at the CSM La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Center theater, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. CSM’s Latin Ensemble Ritmo Caché specializes in salsa, Mexican, Afro-Cuban, merengue, Latin jazz and other musical styles of Latin America.
The College of Southern Maryland has several events planned for December at the La Plata and Leonardtown campuses.
The CSM Connections Literary Magazine Publication Reading will be 7:30 pm Dec. 2 at the La Plata Campus, Center for Business and Industry (BI Building), Rooms 103/104, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. CSM Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery. “Impermanence of Knowledge.” Continues until Dec. 8, College of Southern Maryland, Fine Arts Center, Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Exhibition will feature the photography of Gregory T. Davis. The gallery is open 9 am-9 pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am-6 pm Saturday.
CSM Barbershop Concert. 8 pm Dec. 2. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Fine Arts (FA) Center theater, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Southern Mix is a men’s barbershop chorus that rehearses at CSM’s La Plata Campus. Membership is open to community members throughout Southern Maryland and music majors studying for credit. CSM Scholarship Applications. Through Dec. 17. Through the College of Southern Maryland’s Scholarship Finder online system, new and returning students can access and apply for CSM scholarships until Dec. 17 for classes beginning in the spring 2017 semester. Applicants must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in order to begin the application process.
CSM FAFSA Workshop. 1-3 pm Dec. 4. College of Southern Maryland, La Plata Campus, Francis P. Chiaramonte, M.D. Center for Science and Technology (ST) Building, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. The Financial Assistance Department will provide one-on-one assistance to students and parents as they complete the 2016-17 or 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form is the primary application for federal, state and institutional financial aid programs. Staff will assist families in completing the application. Students and parents need to bring 2015 tax information (W2 forms for parents and student, and federal tax form 1040, 1040A or 1040 EZ) and records of untaxed income, Social Security benefits and child support received or paid. Snow date Dec. 11. Reservations required.

CSM’s Chorale is a mixed choir of women’s and men’s voices that performs a variety of styles, including traditional and modern choral music, gospel music, contemporary popular music and historical styles such as the madrigal.
