Reviewing Ashton Carter’s writings and statements, The Boston Globe suggests the nominee to become the US DefSec sees military force as successful in only “narrow circumstances” and as a part of international strategy.  Mr. Carter’s confirmation hearings, delayed until February, could make military pay a big topic, reports Military Times. His confirmation through the Senate is not expected to be difficult, but questions regarding President Obama’s Afghan and Iraqi policies are expected to be harsh.
