Raytheon Company, a Patuxent Partnership member and benefactor, this month demonstrated the spirit of the season with a $5,000 donation to Operation: Tohidu. This program is designed to assist the increasing number of warfighters living with post-traumatic stress and other deployment-related traumas.

Operation: Tohidu helps all people whose jobs can be traumatic, from veterans to first responders. It gives them a place to take a holistic retreat, enabling them to share a common experience with others and heal in a safe, secure, and private environment.

Chuck Angus, site manager for the Raytheon field office, presented a check to Cari DeSantis, president and CEO of Melwood, the parent organization for Operation: Tohidu, before the Association of Naval Aviation (ANA) and TPP panel in early December.

“This is a great opportunity for our community to give back to our warfighters and first responders. They sacrifice everything to protect our country so this is the least we can do,” Angus said.

The community’s interested in Operation: Tohidu has increased recently, as the organized has been reaching out to other groups in Southern Maryland, including a comprehensive brief at the TPP 2015 annual meeting in October.

“Operation: Tohidu empowers wounded warriors and allows them a secure place to share common experiences,” said Bonnie Green, TPP executive director. “The program gives the participants the confidence to re-shape their lives.”
