MTA Changes Commuter Express Bus Routes

Leonardtown, MD — Effective Nov. 1, 2014, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will rename Washington, D.C.-Southern Maryland commuter express bus Routes 903, 905, and 909 with new route patterns.  These privately operated routes provide commuter bus services to Washington D.C. on four (4) separate routes from three (3) park and ride lots in St. Mary’s County. These lots are located in California near the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport, Charlotte Hall and Golden Beach.

As of May 2013, Routes 903, 905, and 909 adhered to the following schedules:
– Route 903: all trips start and end at the Golden Beach Lot located on Golden Beach Road just east of MD Route 5.

Route 905: AM trip #2 starts in California and stops upon request at the Golden Beach Lot to allow for transfer to the Route 903 service. PM trips 24, 26, 45 and 47 have scheduled stops at the Golden Beach Lot after serving Charlotte Hall Shopping Center. All other PM stops will drop-off only upon request at the Golden Beach Lot.

Route 909: All trips serve the new Golden Beach Lot where connections to the route 903 are possible. Upon request, riders may be dropped off at the Charlotte Hall Shopping Center lot on all AM and PM trips.

 

As of Nov. 1, 2014, these routes will be renamed and have the following new route patterns:

– Route 705 – This route is a weekday express route which serves the Charlotte Hall park and ride lot in St. Mary’s County and the Mattawoman-Beantown park and ride lot in Charles County to Washington D.C. from 4:15 am to 7:39 pm via MD 5.

– Route 715 – This route is a weekday express route which serves the Golden Beach park and ride lot in St. Mary’s County and the Mattawoman-Beantown park and ride lot in Charles County to Washington D.C. from 4:20 am to 8:12 pm via MD 5.

– Route 725 – This route is a weekday peak service route which serves the California park and ride (St. Mary’s County Regional Airport) and the Charlotte Hall park and ride and the Golden Beach park and ride lots in St. Mary’s County and the Mattawoman-Beantown park and ride lot in Charles County to Washington D.C. from 4:00 am to 7:26 pm via MD 5.

– Route 735 – This route is a weekday peak service route which serves the Golden Beach park and ride lot in St. Mary’s County, Regency Furniture (Southern Maryland Blue Crabs) Stadium in Charles County, Suitland Federal Center, and the Suitland Metro station to Washington D.C. from 4:20 am to 7:14 pm via MD 5.
