How to Make Stress Work for You

The US Surgeon General’s 2024 Advisory on the Mental Health & Well-Being of Parents highlighted the extraordinary stress caregivers endure. No one providing care for a child is surprised by the finding. The report found 41% of the caregivers reported feeling so stressed they could not function most days.

Walden Wise has developed a program designed for caregivers, not only parents but for everyone who cares for children, to reduce their stress and make stress work for them.

Throughout the online program, Walden Wise describes everyday ways to share these skills with the children you love and care for. And also how to easily share with other caregivers ways to use stress to an advantage.

Walden Wise has always believed that caring for yourself is just as important as supporting the children in your life. Resources have been designed with this in mind from the beginning and often highlighted the benefits to kids.

With the call to support caregivers more visible than ever, Walden Wise shifts its focus in 2025 to the caregiver. During these opening weeks of the new year, the Caring for You, Caring for Them series will continue to spotlight Walden Wise resources designed to support your well-being as you co-create emotional health with the kids around you.

Caring for You, Caring for Them is designed to help you find that “just right” spot of eustress—the positive kind of stress that energizes and motivates us without overwhelming. With practical insights and easy-to-use tools, this guide helps you:

  • Recognize where you are on the stress spectrum, so you know when stress is working for you or when it’s time to take a step back.

Walden Wise is a new community dedicated to bringing caring adults closer to each other and sharing what works on behalf of children. We refer to our community members as CoCreators – caring adults who want to improve the lives of children by attending to their emotional health.

Children live in worlds created by adults. Yet, the very information that could often help us improve the experience of childhood is far removed from our daily lives. The solutions that exist remain out of our reach.

Please join us as we share valuable resources, connections and experiences to help you nurture the emotional health of the kids in your life.

We’d Love to Hear How Your Conversations Are Going

Every conversation you start helps expand our circle of support. Your experience matters, and sharing it can inspire others to reach out, connect, and find comfort in shared understanding. If you feel moved to share what it was like starting a conversation—whether it brought you comfort, clarity, or a moment of connection—we’d love to hear from you.

Feel free to email us. Together, we’re building a powerful circle of care and support that ripples out far beyond us
