“Stuff the Bus” During Transportation Week

St. Mary’s County is getting an early start celebrating National Transportation Week, which kicks off May 16. St. Mary’s Transit System (STS) will be celebrating the week asking the community to come forward and “stuff the bus” with donations of non-perishable food items for local pantries.

During the spring, pantry supplies are low, and just one food item makes a difference.

St. Mary’s Transit System (STS) buses will be located at McKay’s in Leonardtown, MD, Giant in the First Colony shopping center in California, MD, and Food Lion in Charlotte Hall, MD, May 16 from 10 aam to 3 pm. But to get a head start on the stuffing, the county office buildings listed below will be accepting donations all this week, May 11- May 15, 2015.

This year’s Stuff the Bus campaign goal is 5,000 pounds. Those who donate on Saturday, May 16 will receive a free STS promotional item. Residents may also participate in the year-round collection program at the three St. Mary’s County public libraries in Charlotte Hall, Leonardtown and Lexington Park.
