The Park Heads to the Polls

Election Day is here!

If you managed to have patience and avoid the early voting throng, the day has arrived for you to cast your vote on, not only the presidential race, but also your choice for Maryland’s 5th Congressional District, the next St. Mary’s County Circuit Court judge, a few school board seats and several controversial ballot questions.

ballot boxBut first, you need to know where to go. The 8th Election District of St. Mary’s County, which includes Lexington Park, is divided into 10 precincts. They include Great Mills High School (001), Town Creek Elementary School (002), Greenview Knolls Elementary School (003), Park Hall Elementary School (004), Evergreen Elementary School Gym (005), Esperanza Middle School (006), Green Holly Elementary School (007), Evergreen Elementary School Cafeteria (008), Lexington Park Elementary School (009) and Bay District Volunteer Fire Department’s California Firehouse (010). Your precinct is listed on your voter card, which you should have received in the mail after registering to vote.

The design of the St. Mary’s County’s Board of Elections web site may induce patriotic seizures, but it is, once again, the place to find unofficial election results once the polls close at 8 p.m.

If you are still iffy on all those ballot questions, the St. Mary’s County Library has a few quick guides on the most controversial measures, including casino gambling, civil marriage and the Dream Act.
