Historic St. Mary’s City’s tall ship Maryland Dove will represent Southern Maryland as part of the SAIL250 Maryland & Air Show Baltimore celebration taking place June 24 through 30, 2026.
Join the fun at the Community, Culture & Cuisine event from 11am to 4pm Saturday, June 27, 2026, by the Lexington Park Business Association and St. Mary’s County Arts Council! The event will be held in St. Mary’s Square on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, MD.
Leadership Southern Maryland is accepting applications for its Emerging Leaders Program, or LEAP, a six-month leadership academy for early- and mid-career professionals living or working in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties.
Young artists are invited to explore fine arts this summer through St. Clement’s Island Museum’s Art Kids classes. Participants will experiment with different forms of art, including drawing, painting, simple weaving, sculpting, and other hands-on projects.
The Greenwell Foundation’s guided kayaking program is back. Paddle offerings have been expanded with more dates, new discounts, extra activities, and even more chances to get out on the water.

Lena Marie “Baby Lena” Denny was a “Tom Boy,” growing up on St. George Island, who climbed the Silver Maple trees in her yard until Hurricane Hazel blew them down and missed the school bus on purpose to ice skate on the creek with her best buddy Tommy Poe.
Nykhia “Babygirl” Hastings of Knowledge Boxing Center in Lexington Park won her third bout at the Baddest-Sun-O-The-Beach boxing competition on Oct. 12 in Ocean City.
