Mike Heimer, owner of St. Mary’s Golf Center, shows off his plan for a miniature golf course at last week’s LPBCA meeting.

Mike Heimer, owner of the St. Mary’s Golf Center driving range on Great Mills Road showed up at the Lexington Park Business and Community Association last week to show off tentative plans for a kid-oriented nine to 12-hole miniature golf course.

Displaying a drawing of a plan he is considering, he called it a “future vision of the ultimate possibility.”

The course is part of Mr. Heimer’s larger vision of turning his business into a comprehensive family entertainment center, featuring batting cages and paddle boats as well.

Mr. Heimer explained that the miniature golf course could give his existing business a larger geographic reach. He estimated that his current driving range has about a 20-mile radius of customer draw. A miniature golf course would expand that to 30-40 miles; batting cages could expand to about 50 miles.

Mr. Heimer said that less than 5,000 square feet would be disturbed on his site and that the new course would be located in front of existing driving range.
