Community Bank Donation to CSM Supports Students

Community Bank of the Chesapeake presented $100,000 to the College of Southern Maryland Foundation as part of an endowment and annual fund that will provide scholarships to CSM students. The College of Southern Maryland Foundation has received a $100,000 donation from Community Bank of the Chesapeake. The funds are part of a five-year pledge for a permanent endowment fund and an annual scholarship fund that supports both credit and workforce development students.

To recognize the donation, CSM will name a conference room (Room BU 202) in the Business Building at the La Plata Campus and the lobby in the Center for Trades and Energy Training at the Regional Hughesville Campus in the bank’s honor.

Those presenting the check included William Pasenelli, chief executive officer of CBTC; Gregory Cockerham, executive vice president and chief lending officer at the bank; and James Di Misa, executive vice president chief operating officer at the bank. Cockerham is a director emeritus of the CSM Foundation board; Di Misa is a current member of the foundation’s board.

Community Bank of the Chesapeake is a full-service commercial bank with headquarters in Waldorf, with assets over $1 billion. Through its 12 banking centers and five dedicated commercial lending centers, Community Bank of the Chesapeake offers a broad range of financial products and services to individuals and businesses.

The bank has a long record of supporting the college.

Scholarships will be distributed by the CSM Foundation. Eligible credit students must live in Calvert, Charles, or St. Mary’s County, have a high school diploma or equivalent, have and maintain at 2.5 cumulative grade point average and be studying in the field of business administration. Non-credit students must reside in the tri-county area, have a high school diplomas or its equivalent and be enrolled in a career development program. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
