Barber Family Book Topic of Library Program

Barber Family

The Barber family has lived in St. Mary’s County for generations. Learn about their life from post-slavery through the 1964 Civil Rights Act, as told by Historic Sotterley descendant Donald Barber.

“The Barber Family: From Slavery, Through Segregation, and The Civil Rights Movement” book discussion will be held from 2 to 3:30pm Sunday, October 20, at the Lexington Park Library.

Join co-authors Donald Barber and David Brown for an interactive discussion of their new book. Come with questions for Mr. Barber about his life, his family, and the history of St. Mary’s County.

The authors will be available for book signing after the event.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase; payment may be in the form of cash, check, or credit card. Email [email protected] to arrange a purchase in advance.

This will be a hybrid event. Those planning to attend virtually should register for the event to receive a link to the online session. In-person walk-ins welcome. All registrants will receive a Zoom link before the session.
