Sheriff: Vandalism Reports May Be Made Online

Sheriff

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office now allows residents to report vandalism incidents to its online reporting system.

Residents can take advantage of the Digital Online Reporting System to file certain non-emergency police reports online.

The system helps improve public accessibility while allowing the sheriff’s office to better allocate personnel and resources.

Online reporting provides a fast and efficient way for community members to report incidents such as fraud, hit-and-run crashes, identity theft, lost property, single-vehicle crashes, and now, vandalism. Residents can complete eligible reports online rather than visit a district station or request an in-person deputy response for lower-priority incidents.

Adding vandalism reporting to the system gives community members another convenient option for reporting incidents involving graffiti, damaged property, broken windows, mailboxes, or other intentional property damage.

However, incidents involving active vandalism or situations where the suspect is known are not eligible for online reporting.

Community members witnessing vandalism in progress or who know the identity of the person responsible should contact the sheriff’s office at 301-475-8008 or call 911 in an emergency.
