Upcoming TPP Programs

The Patuxent Partnership invites its members and the regional community to these upcoming programs:

Mark your calendars for “United States-Russian Relations Under Trump Administration. What Does Russia Expect?” Dr. Tatiana Shakleina, head of the Department of Applied International Political Analysis at Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Moscow, will speak at 5 pm Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hall at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Professor Tatiana Shakleina is head of the Department of Applied International Political Analysis at Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Moscow, Russia. MGIMO is Russia’s most prestigious educational entity focusing on international relations. Professor Shakelina is an expert on Russian foreign policy and international relations. She is the author of numerous articles and books, including “Russia and the United States in World Politics,” “Foreign Policy of the Bush Administration: Concepts and Practice and Russia,” and “The United States in New World Order.”

Seating is limited, and registration information will be available shortly.

A one-day cybersecurity program will be held Thursday, March 2, at Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. More information will be available soon. Those interested in sponsorship or exhibitor space should contact Julie Lemmon at 301-866-1739, ext. 318 or email [email protected].

TPP is also proud to announce it will again sponsor, for the fourth year, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — Inspiring the Next Generation (STEM-ING). This one day STEM -ING event is designed for middle school girls in the tri-county region to gain exposure to the STEM fields and associated careers.

The STEM-ING 2017 event will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, on the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus in Historic St. Mary’s. On behalf of STEM-ING, TPP is soliciting STEM workshop ideas and volunteers to support this great event. Workshops, each 50 minutes in duration, should be fun, interactive, and educational. They should also help middle school girls to learn about a particular STEM topic.

TPP is looking forward to partnering with the community, yet again, to inspire more young women. Throughout the day, 150 young ladies will hear from positive role models in the STEM industry and academia and will have an opportunity to select from 15 fun, interactive, and challenging STEM-related workshops. STEM-ING has successfully inspired more than 450 young women to the exciting world of STEM.
