Poetry Reading On Tap at AMG

Hiram Larew will be the emcee for a poetry reading and open mic event on March 20 at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in Solomons.

A poetry reading and open mic event is on tap at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Art Center in Calvert County.

Discovering Spring – A Poetry Reading & Open Mic will be offered from 2:30 to 4 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016.

The public is invited for an afternoon of poetry inspired by spring. The event will feature well-known poets Rocky Jones, Elisavietta “Lisa” Ritchie, Andre “Brenardo” Taylor, and Grace Cavalieri.  The reading will be emceed by noted poet Hiram Larew and will include an open mic period, as well as time for networking and socializing.

Some of the poets will have their books available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are not required. Members are admitted free of charge; adults pay $5. For more information, contact Mr. Larew at [email protected] or call 410-326-4640.

An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, Annmarie Garden is located in scenic Solomons, Md., on the Chesapeake Bay. The sculpture garden features a walking path that meanders through the forest past permanent and loaned sculpture, including more than 35 works of art on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art. Annmarie Garden also presents a variety of award-winning special events, gallery shows, and engaging public art programs. Annmarie Garden’s Studio School offers creative classes for all ages and abilities taught by a talented faculty.

Annmarie Garden is conveniently located just off Route 2-4, on Dowell Road in Solomons. The hours of operation are 9 m to 5 pm daily. The Murray Arts Building and Gift Shop are open from 10 am to 5 pm each day.
