Hydraulic fracking, though promising in terms of developing domestic energy, raises a host of issues related to the environment.

The Future of Fracking in the Chesapeake will be a discussion of gas extraction on the East Coast and the new gas revolution. The panel will specifically discuss the future of fracking in Maryland, and the consequences associated with it.

The panel is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. It will feature Guy Alsentzer, Director, Lower Susquehanna River Keeper; Drew Cobbs, Executive Director, American Petroleum Institute; and Craig Segal, Staff Attorney, Sierra Club.

The panel will be hosted by The Center for the Study of Democracy, The St. Mary’s River Watershed Association, The League of Women Voters and The Natural Science and Mathematics Colloquium.
