Congressman Hoyer said Mr. Michaud is a close friend who works hard to serve members of the military.

“Throughout his tenure in Congress and his life of public service, Mike has been a tireless advocate for the men and women who served in uniform,” Congressman Hoyer said. “As our nation continues the work of reintegrating a generation of combat veterans who served in Afghanistan and Iraq into civilian life, we must do everything in our power to ensure that they have opportunities to secure good jobs that pay well and provide for a secure place in our middle class.”

According to the Veterans Employment and Training website, the group serves veterans and service members by helping them find meaningful careers. VETS helps them maximize their employment opportunities and protect their employment rights. The organization has a long list of programs that help veterans in just about any situation, whether it’s a member of the military who is just being discharged or veterans who have been out of the military for some time.

“I was proud to work closely with Mike, in his capacity as Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, to ensure our nation’s veterans would receive the benefits they have earned,” Congressman Hoyer said. “He was the lead author of a bill to provide tax credits to employers who hire veterans, and he has worked to raise awareness of veterans’ extraordinary skills that make them outstanding hires, especially in our advanced manufacturing sector. I look forward to working with Mike in his new role at the Labor Department to continue fighting for opportunities for our returning heroes.”
