LSM Launches New Website

Leadership Southern Maryland has some big news lately, and it starts with the launching of a new website.

The new site is the place to find program and class information, a calendar of events, sponsorship opportunities and much more. LSM alumni will be able to find an alumni directory, update their own contact information, and see the organization’s resources. Kristin Titsworth of LetItBeCreative worked with LSM to create the site.

LSM Executive Director Helen M. Wernecke said the organization’s original website was created more for its youth program, but the new site puts LSM’s executive development mission at the forefront. Wernecke did extensive research on the best way to present LSM’s mission online, checking out the work of other leadership organizations all over the east coast.

“Some organizations have been in business a lot longer than we have, so we looked at their best practices and made changes to be consistently branded ourselves,” Ms. Wernecke said. The new site offers an aesthetic consistency that can easily be matched in all formats LSM uses.

“We have a consistent message and we wanted the website to reflect that,” she said. “This site is easier to navigate and will be useful to alumni as well as people who want to learn more about LSM.”

The Class of 2016 has just begun its LSM journey. The orientation retreat was Sept. 28 and 29 in Solomons and included a welcome reception at the Calvert Marine Museum.

The LSM Alumni Association is hosting a social hour and education tour on Oct. 15 from 5 to 7 pm at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons. Graduates can join the Class of 2016 and alumni association members get free admission. All others are $5 at the door. RSVP  by Oct. 9.

The alumni association is also planning a Happy Hour from 6 to 7:30 pm Nov. 18 at the Rex in Leonardtown. This is a great networking opportunity and a chance to connect with graduates from different years, meet the current class, or invite a prospective student. Admission is free for current class members and LSMAA members. All others are $5 at the door.
