Kids Explore Nature at Annmarie

nature at AMG
Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center brings art and education together in its April Eco-Explorations event, an Earth Day celebration, from 10 to 11 am Tuesday, April 26.

Eco-Explorations led by staff naturalist Hester Burch will lead kids and their caregivers through hands-on explorations of the natural world. She will get kids thinking about the world around them through a variety of activities and investigations. As always, families are also invited to bring in their own natural treasures for show and tell with Ms. Burch.

Reservations are not required. Admission is free for members; $5 for adults; $4 for military; $3 for youth; free for children 5 and younger.

An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, Annmarie Garden is located in scenic Solomons, MD, on the Chesapeake Bay. The sculpture garden features a walking path that meanders through the forest past permanent and loaned sculpture, including more than 35 works of art on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art.

Annmarie Garden also presents a variety of award-winning special events, gallery shows, and engaging public art programs. Annmarie Garden’s Studio School offers creative classes for all ages and abilities taught by a talented faculty. Annmarie Garden is conveniently located just off Route 2-4, on Dowell Road in Solomons.

The garden is open 9 am to 5 pm daily; the Murray Arts Building and Gift Shop are open 10 am to 5 pm daily.

Summer should be a magical and fun time for kids, where they can learn in completely new and creative ways without the stresses of tests and assignments. The garden is taking registration for its summer camps, where kids between 4 and 18 can attend either full or half-day camps. The students will be taught by professional educators and working artists.
