Joint Base Andrews Announces Air Show
The 2015 Joint Base Andrews Air Show on “America’s Airfield” will be held Sept. 19, 2015, highlighting the USAF Thunderbirds.
Gates open at 9 am, ceremonies begin at 11:30 am. Air demonstrations run until 4:30 pm. Admission is free. Parking is Fed Ex Field and Branch Avenue Metro Station. Shuttles to the show will run from 8 am until 1 pm.
The Air Show: Celebrating Heritage Celebrating Freedom, is billed by the Joint Base Andrews as a community “thank you” to Maryland and the National Capital Region for their support of the base. Joint Base Andrews is located in Prince George County, MD, and under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 11th Wing, Air Force District of Washington. In 2009, Andrews Air Force Base and Naval Air Facility Washington were merged to form Joint Base Andrews.
Guests will experience aerial demonstrations and learn more about the military personnel and equipment JBA uses to carry out the JBA missions. Also of note, this airshow will commemorate 100 years of the US Navy Reserve.
The Air Show will cap a week of activities in the National Capital Region, to include the Air Force’s Birthday Week celebration which runs from Sept. 14-19.
