Hoyer: 227,000 New Jobs, Inflation Falling

Economy

With the release of the US Labor Department’s November 2024 jobs report, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer noted that 227,000 jobs were added last month, unemployment was down near a 50-year record low, inflation is falling, and wages are going up,

“The November jobs report demonstrates the continued strength of America’s job market and economy,” the congressman said, noting that more than 16.3 million jobs have been added in the past 46 months under the Biden-Harris administration. “Our economy continues on its impressive upward trajectory. By investing in America and Americans, Democrats laid the foundation for this historic period of job growth and economic success.”

Many Americans are starting to feel the positive impact of this economic moment, Mr. Hoyer said.

He also touted the historic investments that Democrats made in the American people during the 117th Congress.

“These policies and programs have created millions of jobs by revitalizing American manufacturing, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, and advancing clean energy projects nationwide,” he said. “The American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act have helped more Americans access quality, affordable health coverage than ever before and lowered the costs of monthly health premiums, insulin, and prescription drugs for millions of Americans nationwide.”

Congressman Hoyer is chair of the Regional Leadership Council.
