Learn the tricks of the trade for collecting, cleaning, and storing native plant and veggie seeds for your home garden at the “All the Dirt on Seed Saving” program at the Lexington Park Library on Wednesday, September 11.
The event will run from 6 to 7:30pm.
Harvesting your own seeds saves you money and gives you more variety in your garden.
Marlene Smith, president of Wild Ones Chesapeake Bay, and Molly Moore, president of Southern Maryland Audubon, will teach participants the difference between shakers, beaks, coneheads, and more, then will guide them in cleaning and packaging seeds to take home. Beginners as well as experienced seed collectors are welcome to attend.
Register here. Walk-ins welcome.
The program is made possible with support from Wild Ones Chesapeake Bay, Southern Maryland Audubon, University of Maryland Extension Master Gardener Program, and the Lexington Manor Passive Park Community Garden.
